Upgrading from LT to OFW

Currently a box i have has LT 1.1, flashed by somebody else as i do not do it myself. If you want to become "genuine" again and upgrade to the latest official firmware can you simply download the latest dashboard from microsoft and install via a USB or is this likely to mess things up?

PS this is an offline machine.

when you update to the latest dash, it will re-write your f/w and make it stock again, you will ten have to reflash to a cfw, latest is lt 2.0. it is advised to flash back to stock before updating, but if you are strictly an offline machine then it wont really matter. hope this helps

I may be wrong but i think it does matter as LIVE cannot write to a drive with CFW on it.
