Hi, does anyone know if it is possible to upgrade my IXtreme 1.4 to 1.61 using IPrep and Windows 7 at all. If so are there any problems with the 1.61 FW that i should be aware of.
Asking mainly due to my retail Assasin's Creed II going choppy and jumpy with audio, (think coz i flashed the drive to 8x) so rather than just re-flashing 1.4 to 12x, i thought it may be a good idea to upgrade the FW at the same time.

Thought that may have been the case, many thanks for your reply. I just hope i've still got the tutorial on using IPrep kicking around now. Been nearly 2 yrs since i did my first and only flash.

Might want to consider using Jungle Flasher instead. It's a Windows program, so you can at least search for help and read tutorials on what to do while you're doing it, without the need of a second computer. It's ultimately about what is easier for you.

They are two distinct firmwares. Your DVD drive can only have 1 firmware at a time. The firmware is sort of like the operating system for the drive, like Windows or Mac for a PC. The latest and greatest one is Lite Touch.
