I've tried making a homemade probe and after several tries I was unable to retrieve my key. I bought the 360 USBXtractor and power dongle - as seen here http://www.usbxtractor.com/ and got the drivers installed and have tried JF and Xtractor reader, both don't work... Here is my problem. when I touch the usb spear/probe to the R707 point I get nothing, no light at all.. I have tried other points and have seen dim blue light, bright blue light, and temporaraly a dim blue light and a green light at the same time - but again the R707 gives me nothing. Maybe I shorted it using the homemade probe, i don't know but I have tried the point under the board as well and nothing.. Anyone encounter this? any fix? could I bridge R707 if so how do i do it and where do i touch the probe after the bridge? or are there any alternate points? I heard of R57 but that did not work either. Thanks
Also I would like to know if its possible to short out/break the R707, I am fairly convinced that this happened because I cannot get any read from it at all. nor can I get anything from the R52 either. So if the R707 is shorted or whatever what can be done to resurrect this and retrieve the key?
Quote:check the manner in which you connected the probe to the xtractor, is that correct?
The xtractor was built into the probe, connected via usb. I have no other tools.
You have the wires backwards. The usb probe connects the the little board. Switch them to the proper postion. You should have a green light all the time. Then blue when you hit 707

Either I'm not understanding you or your not understanding me.. I only have the USB dongle with spear built in, it has a usb cable to the computer. I take off the cap and touch the 707 but nothing happens, maybe I somehow shorted the 707 if so is there a way to retrieve the key if it is shorted?
No. Are you sure the drivers are install? I thought you had the maxtor pro. If you aren't getting lights, either drivers aren't installed, usb port is not working (try another one) or it's junk.
According to that guide I would need to use mtkflash, use that then set my SATA ports to native although I'm not sure how to do that, I did not see an option in the BIOS.
also according to CPU-Z I have an MSI-7390 motherboard with the nForce 570 LT SLI SPP chipset and nForce 570 LT SLI MCP southbridge.
These are compatable with all the utilities correct? Or could this be a reason I am getting all 00 00 00 00 etc... results for my key dumps?
