I downloaded the iXtreme 1.6 FW from xbins (for my MS28) and was reading that txt file in the rar. The file says "Strict drive speed compliance - 12x only for game discs!" My problem with that is I don't even know if they make Verbatim DVD+R DL DVD's if they do there probably alot more expensive than a 4X. Although thats not my big problem the main thing is i have a really bad laser and it can barely read verbatim's at 2.5X so if i burn at 12X it will probably be too fast for the laser and not work. So my question is, can I burn at a slower speed and will it still read it? if so, what would be the slowest speed possible? also, a very noobie question you upgrade to 1.6 the same as any other FW, correct?

You upgrade to 1.6 the same exact way u would any other, yes.

Now, for the juicy part. lol

Dude, the Strict Drive Speed Compliance has nothing to do with how fast u burn the games. Its the speed the "360's drive" is gonna be flashed with (12x) and if modified to any other speed (4x 8x etc) games wont boot up.

You shouldve figured this out simply with knowing that u should never burn 360 games at any speed higher than 2.4x. Be careful, some heads in here will tell you never to go higher than 1x, which seems insane to me, but extremely safe and smart (imma start doing it, to be safe)

good luck

hardly no-one in here will tell you to burn at 1x, only like 2 or 3 people do that. and you can burn at 4x with no problems at all, many many people do it and they run. i burn at 2.4x because thats all my verbs support, otherwise i would be burning at 4x.

- 12x is the rpm speed the 360 drive will play backups at. Original games are unaffected. There is no iX 1.6 4x or 8x.

- speed to burn games at all depends on the burner used. If your burner supports 4, 6, or even 8x, then go for it. Always keep your burner firmware up to date.

- never burn dual layers at 1x.

The 1st set of Verbs (non-Singapore) I had were 8x. I burned them at 4x & 8x, and have had no issues whatsoever. But now all my (Singapore) Verbs are 2.4x, and won't allow either of my burners to burn faster than that.

In person: In tiny text near the UPC code, it'll say "Made in Singapore".

Online: I don't know. Maybe send an email to their "Contact Us" link, and ask.

actually it will say MII or MIS. if you get them off of newegg.com you might be able to see what the people say in the comments section. i know the last time i looked on there they were stating if they were MII's or MIS's. not sure if you could hold them to it if you do decide to order from there though.

Mine always say "Made in Singapore". What is "MII"? Made in India?

I have been having issues with verbatims lately for games. I have IMGburn and it is updated. I use ABGX to verify games. My fw on my 360 is 1.60 FINAL. My burner is a new pioneer dvr-118l, but befor i was using pioneer dvr-111d. Lately, ever since going to 1.60 fw on the 360, I have been having issues with verbatims and "unreadable disc" errors while playing a few different games. RE5, Halo ODST, and NCAA football 2010 are the most recent. I have burned games at 2.4x, 4x, 6x, and 8x with the verbatims since the burners would burn those speeds even though the discs say 2.4. I have no idea what the problem is but I never had an issue when I was using iextreme 1.41, just when I went to 1.51 and 1.60 have the unreadable issues started surfacing. The wierd thing is that the games I burn on Memorex dl discs have no issues playing, only verbatims. It isn't the spindle either because I have used discs out of 4 different verbatim spindles. Just curious about any thoughts to this since most of you have used fatser speeds than 2.4 and have had success.
