Hi guys, hope you can help.

On my second xbox now and have a new problem. I have been playing on my main TV via hdmi cable and recently put the xbox in my sons bedroom via vga. when I moved it back to my main tv I had a green washed picture that was flickering on and off. I tried resetting the display to default (y and right trigger). When it came back on I had just a black screen with a fuzzy line.

Put it back in my sons room and its fine. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance

Unfortunately, that is the sign that your console is about to RROD. When consoles heat excessively, there is a problem under the CPU/GPU/HANA/ANA chips.

Take it to someone reputable in your area to get reflowed, or look up w00ly's heatgun fix on here and try replacing the x-clamps.

An experienced local modder can probably do this for you anywhere between 30-50 dollars U.S.

After that, you should be ok.

"All drives should be updated to Lite Touch + (LT+) firmware if playing on XBOX live. Samsung drives and pre-78/79 Hitachi drives do not utilize AP 2.5. All other drives are considered to be detectable by Microsoft (YMMV). Make sure all rips are ABGX verified, contain SSv2, and patched AP2.5 (where needed). XGD3 must currently be burned on new drive with PC Burner Max firmware for 100% rip. All modded consoles can be potentially unsafe for use on XBOX live."

The console is only 2 months old and has the jasper board and still works fine with VGA so not sure its an rrod issue. It seems more like a graphic settings issue.

I have tried the hdmi lead on something else and it was fine.

Thanks for your ideas guys, anyone else have any suggestions?

When you connect back to the HDMI, do you go into the settings and change the display?

sounds like a weird coincidence.....? try connecting into a different HDMI port on the tv (if your tv has multiple hdmi ports)... if not, then try connecting back with the original component cables that came with the 360....

a 2 month old 360 shouldn't be giving you any graphical errors.. but typically that means something is going wrong with your GPU.. like McGreaser said you would have to get it fixed... but since its only 2 months old, you could either bring it back to the store (maybe they'd let you exchange it since its still "kinda" new) or hit up MS to have a repair.

Didn't realize it was a newer console...if so the last three posts should help you resolve your issue...although there is an outside chance it still can be an issue with the console itself.
If you have changed your settings and used the hdmi output on another device...it could very well may be a problem on your tv's end. There's a multitude of videos about the issues of gaming consoles and TVs.
