Hey,
I am very new to this so please be patient with me :)
I bought an xbox 360 off a friend a while back and it was "flashed" is what they said so that I could play modded games. I can download games and burn them off and play. The console is banned already and i wasn't looking to play online anyways. I have been reading around and trying to find out on what is going to happen if I buy the kinect. I can play Fable 3 and AC Brotherhood fine right now but I am scared that if I get the Kinect game it's going to crash my xbox. I am not sure on what version of anything I have but if you can tell me how to find out I will do my best is finding information that will help out. If anyone can help me that would be great :)

Sounds like you have a hitachi drive with 1.51 firmware on it. They can play any game regardless of wave. If you can play a copy of AC Brotherhood, then surely you should be fine when it comes to kinect games. I have a hitachi as well, and kinect works fine with it. To check if you have a hitachi, if you pull your 360's faceplate off, you should see a little oval hole on the right hand side right below the dvd drive's door that has "xbox 360" printed on it. Shine a flashlight into that hole, and if you don't see any wires, then it's a hitachi. It should just look like a black piece of plastic.

Ok I popped my faceplate off and checked that hole, all I can see is a black piece of plastic. So for getting the kinect, people are talkin about the dashboard update and getting problems? If I install that update from Kinect am I going to be in trouble or do I get the update from else where?

Some people do get problems with the new dash, and others have no problems at all. I think it depends on what version your hitachi drive is. If it's a 78 or 79, it's best to wait for the new LT+ firmware that's in it's testing phase now. The only way to find out the drive revision is to take apart your 360. It's a rather simple process. You'll need a T10 Torx screwdriver, and a very small flat head screwdriver for opening the tabs. There are lots of tutorials on taking the 360 apart on youtube if you've never done it before.

Does this dashboard update just ban you from going online? I don't want to go online I just want to be able to play the Kinect and all my other burned games. I am sorry for the questions I just really need to make sure that if I get the kinect it's not going to mess up my xbox in playing games like fable 3 and what not. Again I don't go online at all...my console is banned.

Depending what hitachi you have, depends if the new AP25 games will work.

Ok..if I installed the LT+ firmware when it's released will that work no matter what Hitachi drive I have?
Thanks for help and patience..I am not very knowledgeable when it comes to this kind of stuff :( and I greatly appreciate everyones help :D
