whats the best firmware if you WILL NOT go on live

hello, i have a benq (yellow wires) dvd drive 360. i will not go on live and i would like to know the best firmware to get.
in theory i should get firmware that doesn't check for partitions right?
well what firmware for my drive doesn't check for partitions?
because i cant be bothered to keep gettin my drive re-flashed!!

I would recommend IE:LT as it doesn't matter about new waves, you do need to make sure you have a valid splitvid or you game wont load. (ABGX will add this anyway)

I'm using either 1.6 or 1.61 non-stealth (can't remember which exactly). I don't see any benefit to using Lite Touch unless you change your mind about playing online.

Why does everyone say this?
I can confirm that LT boots backups with or without splitvid, it was just advised to make sure the backup had splitvid to be safer on LIVE.

Exactly, no benefit for using 1.6 or 1.61, but if you change your mind about live, or sell your xbox on LT is the way forward ;)

I thought yellow wires were liteon, and white wires are benq. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

It takes a few seconds to just run an iso through abgx so you may aswell use it, also seeing as you have a Liteon drive you may aswell put LT on it ;)

so, just to double check, as im gona use a non-stealth firmware, will i need the boot disc?

Yeah 1.6 non stealth will be ok, but LT for benq should be released any day now.

sorry for the attitude!
okay, i have now flashed my drive to i extreme 1.61. it said nothing about it being non stealth.
one question, i will still not go on live and with this firmware do i still not have to bother about abgx/stealthing? basically, can i simply burn the game and not bother stealth checking (as i will not go on live?)

1.61 isn't non stealth.
You need 1.6 non stealth or LT.
It takes seconds to run an iso through abgx so why wouldn't you want to do it, if you're not going on live you won't need to verify the iso but it's best to run it through anyway in case it's a bad rip.

No you won't need the boot disc because 1.61 boots all waves so far ;)

Yeah 1.61 should without bootdisk... unless your me and need it for left 4 dead 2.....which is said cause thats the only game that needs it XD lol
