hi guys was thinking about buying a used 360 and having it modded by someone that does it as i am not confident enough to do it myself.can anyone suggest what to look for any perticular model i want a hd version,and how do i tell if i have a dual layer re-writer any help much appreciated
When I got mine for modding, I picked one up at Gamestop. I took it home and checked the serial number on Xbox.com to see if it was still covered by the MS warranty. It wasn't, so I took it back and exchanged it claiming that it had some freezing issues. I did this a couple of times until I got one that was still under warranty from MS. That way you can still get it fixed officially if it RRODs on you.
For your DVD drive, most RW drives made in the last few years are Dual Layer capable. If you're not sure about yours then you can order a new one for about 25$ from Newegg. Not too much to pay for a new drive.
thanks i will get one with a hard drive how long does ms warranty last on them and how do i check on my computer what writer i have,i have a sony vio vgn-ns20e running vista.

As for your DVD burner, google the model number and you should be able to find out pretty easily if it's DL capable.
Microsoft extended the 3 rrod and e74 error to three years, all other problems are only covered for one year.
ok my nephew has an xbox 360 arcade that has rrod he contacted them and they said that they would send out packageing to send it back he never got it and this was sometime last year,i have been trying to see if the serial numbe was registered and am getting nowhere i go to site and i do not see where to check the warranty any help
