Well this is only a theory, but since Microsoft is reflashing most of the xbox 360 drives to newer firmware, am hoping there using the nand to retrieve the DVD Key and if they are that means those fancy dvd players may be turned back into xbox's with the new dashboard, so if anybody would like to test out the theory for me? just get the leaked version and update and see if theres any difference? I mean whats there to lose? and if it works, this could be a blessing in disguise. I would but I've sold all my spares and drives :(
edit: delete this, seems like it flashes a bad key
Well if it flashes a bad key then maybe MS does it on purpose since they know it has been tampered with. But if they were to flash it using key from nand then you would have a very good idea here, especially for all of those people who cant follow simple instructions. Maybe the official release will be different from beta and do as you suggested, although I would rather everyone keep their dvd players and never see it released!
that's a good idea, everyone should wait until this latest dash is relaeased before jumping to conclusions, and why don't you DVD Player only people, dump your NAND?
they can't dump the nand, that's the whole problem the kernel past 8xxx patched this. But from what I've heard it gives a bad key so this might be in vain
It was already tested and no, there's no reviving consoles with no dvd key.
And yes, you can still dump the nand past the 8xxx dash. What the post 8xxx dash blocked was access to the cpu key. The cpu key which, when coupled with a nand dump, gives you your dvd key.
