I bought a faulty xbox 360 from the market and it has a problem with the dvd drive when you put a game in it, it says to play this game put it in an xbox 360 console. so its a BenQ drive I connected it to my PC opened up jungle flasher and turns out it was spoofed as a Hitachi 78 and the manufacture date of the 360 is 2005 and im sure 78s didnt exist in 2005. could it be that the wrong firmware has been flashed on to the drive?

When your 360 was manufactured, the drive was paired to the motherboard. So when it boots up, it looks for the Hitachi 78 drive it was paired to. If it doesn't recognize the drive, you will get an "E" error (E66 or something like that). With spoofing, all you do is changing the identification string so you will fool the XBOX 360 into thinking the drive is a Hitachi 78.

so if the xbox was manufactured in 2005 so it must of been paired with a older hitachi drive not a 78, right? but the BenQ that was in the xbox was spoofed as a 78 so it is possible that the drive is spoofed as the wrong drive or the wrong firmware is flashed?
