I know i've got to be missing something silly and simple but i've seriously been searching all over the place and i can't figure it out. i'm trying to flash a samsung ms28 with jungleflasher using my ASUS A8N-SLI nForce4 SLI motherboard which has 4 sata ports on it. However, if i start up the pc with the xbox already powered up then windows never starts. it'll never make it past the windows xp screen and onto my desktop. it just sits there forever until i power down the pc. if i wait and power up the xbox after i make it to the desktop, then once i click on "my computer" to try to navigate to the folder that contains jungleflasher i just get that little flashlight thingy that waves back and fourth until i close the window. i've tried all four sata ports with no luck. i'm assuming it has something to do with bios settings and i read my manual to try and figure it out but i had no luck there either. any ideas?

Have you tried going into Device Manager and seeing if the DVD drive comes up in there? If that doesn't work just get yourself a SATA card.
Try searching, its fun.

I use a MSI nforce board with 550 on it. I have to plug the dvd drives into the 4th sata spot, anywhere else and windows will lock/blue screen. Give that a shot.

I've tried all four sata plugs rebooting the pc each time I switched them and no luck. But just so I'm sure, you didn't have to have any special settings on the bios or elsewhere for it to work? I haven't looked on the device manager yet but I may try that later. I've seen the drive show up on the list of drives during startup before the xp loading screen comes up, but that's where it hangs. I'll probably just go look at bestbuy or some computer store today for a cheap sata card. Everyone's replies are much appreciated.

Yeah for all the hassle it's causing you're really worth just buying a SATA card, they're not expensive at all. Good luck with your flashing :)
Try searching, its fun.
