Wolfenstein 3D was my first ever FPS. Definitely have fond memories of the old franchise. Every Wolfenstein after the original expansion packs (I'll include Rise of the Triad in there as well since it was originally Wolfenstein 2) sucks though :( I hope this one ends up being better.
They always try to make it all magical and mystical. While that was part of the original, it wasn't quite so over the top. I miss the grittiness of the original as well.

Yeap you are.
Just played through first level. It's great! Although there is to much sci-fi and not enough Nazi shootoing.

WTF they are making it sci fi even in the first level?
In the original you had to work your ass off before they revealed the "deep underground" secrets to you. Lamez0rz.

I have a Offline only Xbox so I played it today.
Think of this game as Nazi "Prey" If you have ever played Prey.

I also really liked Prey but the game play videos for Wolf... looked pretty average/generic. I'll take your word for it but I'll have to put it in the binder for now.

Same here.
I've been showing my kids some of the games I grew up on. I showed them the original Wolfenstein & Doom, and they're like WTF? Dad, what's wrong with the graphics? My daughter said "the resolution probably only goes up 16p." My nephew then said "you mean 16i." They said Asteroids was 2i. (yes, two lines interlaced)

That's because it's graphics over gameplay these days :(
back in the day a skillset was required to beat a game. Nowadays, for the most part, you only need skill against human opponents.

Very true.
The best part about Wolf3D back in the day for me was the sound! Amazing for its time!
