I did the 'X-clamp' fix around three days ago.
All of it went to plan, and i went off the tutorial on the 'llama' website.
At the minute it is working spot on, no problems or anything.
my only issue with it is, my fan seems to be blowing out hot air rather than cool
i have an elite also, and if i put my hand behind it it will be cool air hitting my hand while the one off my original xbox feels warm.
is this something i have done wrong or is it normal. because it is an xbox i bought when they very first came out.
at the minute its sat on a plastic box with the power box next to it in the middle of an open space, so I don't think its that.
i just dont wanna play it to much in case something goes wrong.
do you think i'll be alright

The older Xbox 360s just run way hotter...however, this also why the older ones RROD more than the newer ones. If you put on new thermal paste, give it a while to cure properly so that it cools better....depending on the thermal paste, this could be one day or 3 weeks.

What I now do to all the older consoles I fix, is do a 12-volt fan mod and use cardboard fins on top of the heatsinks to improve the airflow over the surface of the heatsinks. I was skeptical of this working in the beginning, but I have had higher success rates in preventing reoccurring RROD.

"All drives should be updated to Lite Touch + (LT+) firmware if playing on XBOX live. Samsung drives and pre-78/79 Hitachi drives do not utilize AP 2.5. All other drives are considered to be detectable by Microsoft (YMMV). Make sure all rips are ABGX verified, contain SSv2, and patched AP2.5 (where needed). XGD3 must currently be burned on new drive with PC Burner Max firmware for 100% rip. All modded consoles can be potentially unsafe for use on XBOX live."

Yeah it does improve airflow. Xecuter should make a fan shroud with that shape built in.

Here's how i do the 12V mod

Notice the transistors that i bypassed. This is pretty easy to do with a little bit of wire. The one on the bottom is for the gpu and the one on the top is for the cpu, with hdmi boards there's only one transistor controlling the whole fan bus.

Here's a pic of a hdmi board

This one you jump the right bottom leg with the middle leg. The middle leg has no resistance so it will bypass the transistor. You can just heat up both legs and bridge the legs with a little bit of solder.

I've been using this 12v mod for about a year now and it's probably the cleanest way to 12v your xbox.
