First off, try to format it to FAT32 (You might need thrid party utilities since its 120GB) and format with the Xbox 360. You can also try to format with the Xbox 360 right now. Otherwise just restore the backup. There's also a program called Xport 360 that might be able to reformat the drive to the Xbox partition though you're probably better off restoring the backup and formatting it through the Xbox 360.

If you don't have the warranty seal on the hard drive they won't replace it. You haven't removed that right?

Out of curiosity then, how did it get formatted to NTFS? It needs to be physically formatted to NTFS, it won't come like that.

Most likely formatting it to FAT32 through your laptop would solve the issue. I've had to send an HD to MS before and it took about 3 weeks.

I'm sure it can be fixed somehow, it's just a matter of getting the partitions to be recognized by the Xbox 360. If you tried to format the drive through the 360 and it didn't work, might as well send it back but it will be fun to find a solution to this.

yeah it is. i think i screwed it up as a 360 drive by deleting the xbox relevant data that makes it specifically an xbox drive. xport now doesnt recognize it but it pops up in my computer as 120GB usb drive. think i will just have to use it as external hard drive and get a new 360 drive. unless anyone knows of a cure...?
