its all i can afford, its selling for 199.00 and for an extra 30 dollars kmart is offering a 2 year replacemnet warranty. is the arcade version worth it. Note: after i complete a game I delete it from memory anyway so is the elite worth the extra money. 199.00 is more what I can afford, i know by next christmas the xbox 360 will be even cheaper, especially if ps4 comes out in 2011. im thinking of waiting until xbox is selling for 99 dollars like ps2.
The question is simply: Is it worth $199 to you, to be able play the games you want (hi-def next-gen first person shooters). Nothing more, nothing less. There is no difference between the Arcade and the Elite, other than the accessories that come with Elite.
They throw in a measly 256/512 MB of internal memory in the Arcade, so you can save your profile and gamesaves. It's like having an internal memory card.

The Arcade is definitely worth it. I bought mine at a Walmart sale in early November for $99. The current Arcade version is more stable that previous versions of the past few years, and is thought to be less susceptible to the "red ring of death".
It has HDMI (get a cable at monoprice for $6) if you have an HDTV. It has 512mb built in, and it comes with one wireless controller.
You can construct a 250GB drive for it for about $65. You can add a $15 router configured as a client bridge instead of MS's $80 network adapter.
