Well... I'm relatively new to the xbox modding scene but i have a problem with my xbox 360 disc drive. The xbox was really dusty and i thought it was time to open it up and clean the insides. When i closed the xbox and put the full casing back on, to my dismay i saw the xbox 360 have 4 red rings. I assume, hardware failure. I quickly opened it up again and powered it on. It displayed no errors so i was relieved. However it did have a blinking light at the center. In an attempt to diagnose the problem, i removed the faulty disk drive (Philips and BenQ) and replaced it with a hitachi-lg drive. The Hitachi Lg drive worked fine and the blinking stopped. This leads me to believe that the problem resides in the Philips drive. The (Philips and BenQ) original drive seems to be the root cause of the problem.I would like to have the (Philips and BenQ) drive working again since it is already flashed. If not i was thinking about flashing the Hitachi-LG drive.
Is there any way to perhaps repair the original (Philips and BenQ) Disc Drive?
If not is there a way to extract the key.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.
hi, if the green light is blinking it means its not detecting the dvd drive, as for 4 red rings that is when the av cable is not connected properly,
easiest way i do benq drives is to make a bootable usb with windows 98 sys files and hp usb disk format tool, and copy dosflash 16 to the root of the stick, boot to usb, type dosflash, power cycle the drive when it says mtk vendor, and typr r for read, !simple!
then u got your key?
I did some research and it seems that it is indeed possible. I would like to use the original drive though..
Is it possible to remove the motherboard of the drive that is damaged and place it in the hitachi drive?
