Hi, I've done some searching on this site for a detailed tutorial on how to firmware flash a Lite On drive in an xbox 360 however all I have really done is confuse myself further, so I hope to ask a few questions and get some realistic answers. First off, is it possible to flash a lite on drive without having to deal with the hardware components (i.e. no soldering or playing with the circuitry) so that I can play backed up games??? And secondly, can someone provide or link me to an accurate tutorial that explains how to flash a lite on drive??

The Jungleflasher tutorial is pretty good. You can look up a guide here by a member named leerage also he is very good at making guides and very knowledgeable of the 360.

But your best bet is to buy a CK3 V2 and Probe (google this), the cost is around $80 (Canadian) and that will enable you to get the key from your Xbox in order to flash it with iXtreme.

But before all that dismantle your 360, download and install all necessary components for JungleFlasher (just google that as well their main website has instructions) and then connect your Xbox drive to your PC to see what firmware you have, if it starts with a 7 you are good, if it starts with an 8 then you have to use a different tutorial.

As far as hardware from your PC goes you will likely need to buy a VIA chipset sata controller card and install it in your PC.

Get a VIA 6421 Sata Card, if your PC's onboard sata isn't compatible.

Get a KeyGrabber Pro or a Maximus 360 Xtractor Pro or a Connectivity Kit V3 PRO. I use the KeyGrabber Pro. (cheapest, comes with a probe, and has never failed me)

Download JungleFlasher, and read it's tutorial while you wait a few days for your parts to arrive.

Depending on which Lite-On drive you have, use:
leerage's guide for Lite-On firmware 74850
or
leerage's link to a guide for Lite-On firmware version 83850c

The tutorial explains every aspect of what you need to do.
Follow the tuts step-by-step and you won't go wrong.
