Hello Everyone, I have searched through the forums for an answer but alas I cannot.

I have read the tutorials for flashing a LiteOn DVD drive but everything I read says you need the Connectivity kits and special cables to Extract the Keys.

My question is, can I extract the LiteOn Firmware key without having to purchase any additional hardware? Is there a software solution to obtaining the key?

Also I was wondering if there was a tutorial for using your xbox 360 as a power source when flashing your firmware.

Any help would be most appreciated

Thanks guys

Unfortunately my friend all the tutorials you've read are nearly right. You will need the connectivity kits and in some cases soldering experience as well. The only drive that can be read/flashed without addons is the 83850C v1.

As far as power is concerned, yes you can use the 360 but it is a bloody PITA to whip the power cable out of the DVD and put it back in within 1 second and trying to catch the DVD tray mid eject too.

So to round up: there is no 100% software solution for the liteon apart from the 83850C v1 and to be honest the connectivity kit is a small price to pay in respect of the money lost in potentially burning out the pcb in the DVD drive when you accidently plug the power cable in upside down........ before you get your key saved lol.

Dont even think about how i do this 1 handed... just know i do and i can kick your ass at CoD, Gears, SF, VF .. get the picture *wink*

toaster68s correct, no 100% software solution is available.
If you have the new litons, then the mra hack is the cheapest, no connectivity kit required, just a 22 ohm resistor, a switch and some solder and wires. Toaster68 is also right in that buying a connectivity kit is a small price to pay for peice of mind...
