i am new to xbox 360 stuff (from ps/psp) and was wondering what is the best configuration to play burned backup's or iso's as i do on my psp. i have done the homework on the internet but can't seem to find a definite answer. i have probaly read 50 tutorials or so. i don't care if i burn games or mount iso's (without getting banned). but as a newbie to xbox 360 community help from the gods would be prayer worthy. i have a mac and pc. but if i don't have to take apart the xbox 360 i plan to buy i'd rather not but not a big deal. if i can just flash it. that would be preferred but not nessecary. thanks for the help xbox 360 titans for accepting this convert.

I know the only way to run backups is to open up your xbox360 and flash the drive which will void your warranty even the 3yr red ring of death warranty. Depending on which type of disk drive you have will make the difference on what firmware you need to use as there not usable from one drive type to another. I'm not sure cause I had a friend do mine but I believe different drives take different sata chip sets to flash the drive. Modding a 360 is nothing like modding a ps2 or psp there a whole different breed. I'd reccomend having someone with experience flash it for you unless you plan to do lots of them. If you do do it yourself make sure you have the most up to date firmware for the drive you have or you may have issues running some games. I wish I knew more on this subject because I will be getting a new 360 slim and once there is hacked firmware available(might be already but haven't checked lately) I am going to attempt this myself due to my friend passing away and I don't know anyone else that does it. I don't play on line anyways and the 360 I have now that is flashed red ringed twice this month. My other was bought on release day and has never been tampered with so I plan to keep it that way. Maybe that console will become a collector piece some day.

I just checked. If your going to mod an xbox360 don't get a slim there will be a long wait unless you can make your own firmware but that would take years of research and learning. I'd hit ebay and find one that works and still has a warranty seal even if the warranty is up.
