When the brick is plugged into the wall, but not the xbox, the light is yellow. When I plug it into the xbox, it immediately turns red. Is this normal behavior for the xbox? I know when its always red, there is a problem w/ the brick, but it is only red when plugged into the xbox. I was trying to fix the RROD and think I messed up the xbox even more.

Thanks

You probably have a short somewhere, this happened to me after I installed my cooler max fans. Wire got pinched and was shorting out to ground. Check your board and make sure nothing is bridged.

Nothing is bridged? Does the brick need to be replaced? or is this normal for a bad brick?

if you fixed the x-clamps, and used screws & washers, one of the screws might be grounding out on the metal housing... remove the small torx screws that hold the mother board to the cage, and plug it in... slowly put some of the screws back in, and test it.. you might be tightening them down too much.
