Hi my Xbox 360 is modded so how do I know if my Xbox 360 a software modded or hardware modded?
And also i've asked this question before
I just want to ask again
I want to ask about the May Xbox Live Update
Everybody says that it changes the firmware to stock
So will it change the firmware to stock for hardmodded Xbox 360
I doubt it's hardmodded. Nobody hardmods these days.
It's not softmodded. There is no softmod for the 360.
It's had it's firmware flashed from stock to iXtreme.
If your drive is a BenQ or Lite-On, the update will flash it back to stock if your iXtreme is lower than version LTPlus1.9

On the contrary, there is a softmod for the 360, or what would you call a JTAG?
Xbox 360: Slim untouched with a faked 320 GB harddrive for XBL, phat with LT 3.0, played Halo early, so going on live would be an instand ban, also with a faked 320 GB harddrive
PS3: Untouched 160 GB Slim, 60 GB Fat with latest Rogero and 160 GB internal harddrive.
PSVita: hardly ever play it
GameCube: Black with a Viper chip installed. With gameboy player. Trying to get a Wavebird controller.

hard mod duh. You have to solder. Softmod is stictly software based.
If my xbox 360 a hardmod and i download the update can i still play the backed-up disc?
I can't play backed-up disc after i downloaded the update
I put it in and shows me an Xbox 360 Logo?
So does that means my Xbox is hardmod or flashed?
If it was flashed
After I download the update
And it changes the firmware to stock
And buy some original game
Can I play Xbox Live safely without getting ban?
There are 3 people saying different things
So anyone please help me out
I really need your help
How do I know if my Xbox 360 is hardmod or softmod or flashed?
Do some Xbox is hardmod to play backed up games?
If i download the May Xbox Live update
Will it change the firmware back to stock for hardmod and softmod Xbox 360
Or does it changes only for flashed Xbox 360
I bought my Xbox 360 at December 2009
So if i have an iXtreme
It should be lower than 1.9
azhan, just to clear up a little something for you.
Hardmod = Hardware-Modification: This is when you physicallymodify the console's hardware, by soldering a modchip to, or performing a JTAG on, the motherboard. Or any other physical motherboard alteration.
Softmod = Software-Modification: This is when you modify, or use pre-modfied software on a console, such as the CFW for the PS3, or the C-IOS for the Wii.
Flash = DC Comics Superhero: This is when you simply erase a piece of (usually very small) software, and replace it with newer/different software. This is what's done to the Xbox 360's DVD drive to get it to recognize burned media.

Not really sure because the modchips were supposed to bypass the drive's firmware. But back in the day, plenty of modchip users got banned.

This means that the update deleted your iXtreme firmware, and flashed stock firmware to the drive. Your 360 is stock now.

That's what a stock Xbox 360 does with burned games.

I say flashed, because Microsft re-flashed it to stock. So you gotta re-re-flash it to iXtreme LTPlus1.91 now.

While on stock, yes you can still play "retail" games on Live. As far as getting banned, who knows. Microsoft may have flagged you to be banned. Use XvaL to find out.

Open the drive to see if there is a modchip hardmodded to it.

That is the primary purpose of modding an Xbox to begin with.

Once again, with a hardmod I don't know for sure. If it's flashed, it will go back to stock unless you already had iXtreme LTPlus1.9 on it.

Date doesn't matter.

With a hardmod system it will still get flashed to stock unless you have one with later version mod and have wright protection enabled on the mod. If wright protection is enabled on hardmod it will neither flash the drive nor update the dash because it will error out with trying to flash the drive first. At least it did on one of the systems here that has a mod in it. I had to disable the protection to update that system then flash the drive again with 1.91
