hi, i recently added a hdd to my 360 by wiring it in internaly, it all worked fine, now i tried to install some leds using the power from the fans, it worked fine aswell, but the fans started goin like mad, and still do, it doesnt calm after it warms up or owt?, i noticed the hdd wiring id done does short out on itself? and makes the xbox reboot like when a hdd is unclipped, im goin to make up a better sata cable and heatshrink every wire, to stop this, but why the fans like mad?? any ideas people?

no resistors are installed, the guide i used didnt have any resistors on it? and do u know why the fans are going like mad? if i just bypass them to a 5v source then wouldnt that slow them down?

well i have wired in power to my hdd by using the 5v standby, in the top left corner near the wind tunnel, i am also using a 12v just below that to run 1 full 30cm led strip with built in resistors, it does all work fine. its the sata cable i cut in half and wired upto the hdd connector inside thats causesing the problems, i ran the wire through 4 holes in the board and it must connect them to the points and makes it short and reboot, also if i was borrowing power from the fans wudnt they run slower, rather than full whack? the xbox worked fine before this, so if i use the 5v spot u say, should that be ok.

thanks for the 5v fpr the fans, its worked like a charm, i just took the 2 live fan wires and soledered them to the transistor thingy lol, its running nice and quietly now, left it on most of the day and its still coolish, :)

You should really have your fans wired back to the connector and wire you leds to a better spot. As for the 5v standby i don't know why you would want power all the time, that's just a waste. The point i showed you is the switched 5v spot, i mainly use this one for leds.
You shouldn't really have any problems just make sure the xbox isn't running too hot. If you want you can buy a fan controller so you can adjust your fans the way you want them.
here's a link for the fan controller

If you take it off the bracket the board is about 1.5" long and really easy to mount to your xbox.

im not using any leds into the fan socket now and it still goes like mad, the xbox is cold and its running like its overheating, thats why iv run the fan wires to the 5v spot you said, as for the 5v standby, ?!?!?!? just experimenting with the hdd mod, il get it shifted to the 5v you say also. thanks, them fan controllers, look pretty cool, il just chop out some case and have it ontop, so if i wired the fan to 12v and used a controller i could just turn it down? yes? thanks for the help m8 appreciate it. :)
