I have a Jtagged Xbox 360, but it seems to have downs.. Or something.. I can get the box to run the best if i take the DVD drive out of it after it boots (to prevent Xell). How can I make the xbox 360 think that the DVD drive is closed, without the drive being inside of the console? And also have "some" ability to be able to revert it if the Xbox needed updating.
Edit - My short search on Google prior to posting uncovered something about shorting pin 4 to 6. this did nothing for me. also, if i used a pc hdd jumper to short the pins, my 12v fan mod would not work. : /

Firstly are you using freeboot?if so if you use freeboot toolbox to make your dash you have an option to make the image work with no drive.secondly your terminology ie insulting downs is not appreciated.its a poor attitude!

you need to jumper pin 4 and 6 (keep in mind, there is no pin one (1) it is empty. so you know from where to count). just use a jumper that fits (i use a hdd jumper). pins 4 and 6 WORK, i am using it myself. no dvd drive, just the jumper. this prevents it to boot to xell.
if your 12 volt doesn't work, your jumpering the wrong wires. see below, jumpering 4 and 6 can not interfere with your 12 volt mod

it all depends IF xell(ous) is included in the freeboot image. in an old freeboot image, xell was included and could be booted by powering the xbox with the eject buttom. so if no drive was attached, you had tray open situation and it would only boot xell. i figured that out after jtaggen, and i flashed the freeboot image (bestpig) via xellous. i flashed 20 times (xenon- diode jtag), because after each succesfull flash it would only boot xellous. after around one hour i figured out that the bestpig proggie i used included xellous that was booted with powering on with the eject button. hence jumpering the pins solved it. there was an option of ticking 'no dvd drive attached' but that didn't work in the initial release of the bestpig program. with the newer releases of bestpig, xell was left out as far as i know, or you had to insert it manually. but i left the jumper in.
