XBC v2.9 Build:0306 recognizes the TS-H943A however it does not recognize any media placed in the drive, original or backup.

Drive is flashed with ixtreme 1.61

The drive shows up in windows but I cannot "explore it" or remotely get it to eject. I get an I/O error.

I apologize, mostly because this seems to simple to me but I can't figure it out... any ideas?

I do not personally have experience with this, but I believe you must put the drive into 0800 mode in order for this to work. I am not sure if 1.61 supports that. You may even just want to use the dedicated 0800 firmware instead, and then you don't have to worry about putting it into a certain mode (using a CD/DVD, I believe) when you wanted to rip a game.

$38 on new discs -- Check
$15 on burn after burn that showed as a DVD -- Check
$11 on new laser -- Check
$28 on new multimeter -- Check

you need to flash the drive with 0800 firmware then once you need to use it install the latest aspi drivers and try to use it.if it then gives you any problems try connecting it to your on board sata on a primary channel then try again.it should then work.

Yes, you need to put it in 0800 mode. 1.6.1 should have 0800 firmware built into it, unless they took that out?

Thanks for the feedback.

1.61 release notes indicate 0800 support, I did the "tray half open" power up on the drive, it was only then that windows recognized it. So I'm pretty sure I was in 0800 mode but then again I couldn't navigate the disk or eject the drive from windows so somethings up.

The drive is connected to a VIA6421 primary sata port.

I see that XBC recommends Frog ASPI, don't know anything about it, but I'll try it or whatever the latest and greatest might be...

eggman14,

I will also try the dedicated 0800 fw for the sammy and see if that makes a difference. Staying away from Kreon until I find out if ssv2 information is critical to backups and potentially MS. I don't know enough about it yet but I have read that they targetted ssv1 discrepancies in the past so it stands to reason that it is relevant.

Update

Tried dedicated v1.6 0800, no change

Tried different ASPI dll, Frog, Adaptec, etc. no difference

Used ASPI checker to verify it sees the drive, it does.

Using a PCI SATA card, will try the motherboard next....

Once again, thanks in advance for any suggestions.
