Xbox drive flashing Motherboard And sata question

Hi there Im just new to the Xbox360 modding scene So please be gentle. Fist thing I will say is im not a complete noob I have done other mods Eg psp,wii,xbox,ps2 All I am wanting to know Is can I use the sata Thats onboard of my motherboard to flash Any xbox 360 drives ? And if so what ones If I can ? I have done some googling And come up with some info on this But thort I would ask around in here and see if someone could Give me a difinative answer :) My motherboard is A " ASRock K8UPGRADE-VM800 mATX S754 K8M900 DDR AGP 2PCI Video Sound LAN Motherboard "

if it has the via chipset in it (it will say on the chips)i might work. but you should really just spend the 15 bucks on the PCI card and be done with it.

Why?
The PCI card seems like more problems than its worth

hows so? i havent had a problem with mine and i've been flashing since it was first possible. if you cant get your drive detected due to an incompatible MOBO, your only option is for the pci card.

Haven't a lot of people had problems with the PCI card causing the flashing process to freeze? Plus, it's a added expense, a wasted PCI slot and I would always choose the MOBO if I had the choice

most people have problems because they are to stupid/lazy to read the directions about deleting the via driver. and you could easily take out the pci card when not using it. and who really uses all 4 pci slots? one for audio, maybe a wifi adapter and what else? and i couldnt use my mobo even though it is compatible. way to many HDs and DVD drives. that and its only 15 bucks, 1/4 of a game, it isnt that much money.

Ok thanks for the reply I was thinking about getting a PCI card and doing it that way would just be easer if I could use the ones on the board. When the compter starts up after the bios screen it says info about the sata and it says VIA Tech VT8237 this work you think ? I could all ways go get a sata cable and try Would just be good to know for sure Thanks for the replys

i personally wont say it will/wont work. only way to tell is to hook it up and give it a go. perhaps someone will chime in saying it will or wont.

That mobo has a VIA chipset. You should be good.

he should be good, but i've seen some posts where people state they have via and post a pic of it for proof that still cant get their onboard to work.
