So I've recently manually upgraded my harddrive, and I've only restored partition 2 (where the emulator is). I also, unfortunately, have the latest 8955 kernel. Now, when I was restoring partition 2 with Xplorer xtreme 2, the bar that shows you the progress of your restoring run all the way to the end, disappeared (like any finished bar would), and then Xplorer xtreme 2 crashed (I guess when it's about to return to the main interface). I know that could or could not be a problem, so I test it out on my 360 anyways.
I put the harddrive back in the enclosure. I popped in my Darkwatch disc (which is on the compatibility list), which I downloaded pre-processed (so it's around 6 - 7.5 gbs, which the uploader and other people have said works). The emulator started, and said that the game's not compatible (or something close to that), and suggested that I get an update on live.
I couldn't do that, of course, so I did it the manual way. I copied the default.xex onto my usb (the usb has no other files but that), and put it in the 360 and then started it up - no joy. I put it into a folder named $SystemUpdate and renamed it to s20060xxxxxxx (whatever it's supposed to be) with no extensions - no luck. I've read stories where people have successfully done it with the usb - so I know it works. And I don't have any re-writables to write on, so I don't want to risk writing onto cds (I've also read cases where people have waste 4 cds with 4 different methods).
Anyone have any idea on how to fix it? One of my main concern is maybe having 8955 means the 2007 backward compatibility update isn't needed, and I've been wasting my time. Do you think the crash of Xplorer at the end of restoration was the problem? (the emulator did boot up and said the game isn't compatible)
Maybe someone could host their updated partition 2/emulator somewhere, assuming the compatibility update would have gone to partition 2 and not partition 0 or 3?
