i just want some clarification. after clicking write it said writing to bank, 0,1,2 and so on. then it did a flash verification test and it said ok. ive tried a disk and it works. but how do you know if the flashing was successful for you to go on xbox live?

if the flashing was successful and you flashed with the latest firmware >> 1.6ixtreme then you are as safe as everyone else to go on xbox live.
but as always there is a chance, even with the latest firmware that you can get banned, for example, playing pre release games and so on

i would say 1.51 is safe, i use my 1.51 hitachi on xbox live, no problem, but i would say, and everyone else on here, update your drive to 1.6ixtreme, NOT 1.6ixtreme with 0800 support(used to rip games) just to be that little bit more safe.
