ok im a complete newb to xbox flashing a friend on live told me about it how great it is so now i need it i ordered the xecuter ck3 pro kit and external switching power supply besides an xbox is this all i need ? i was also told that if i run this other program called avgx on the iso file before i burn it i can play online with no problems is this true? i only want to be able to play burnt games im not worried about all the rest of the stuff i looked for a tuturial guide but i couldnt find one on here

LOL. Not 100% true. You will eventually some day get banned if you play on xbox live. When you get banned, the console is banned from live forever. The program you patch with is ABGX which you can get on abgx360.net. What console do you have? If you have slim, that kit isn't enough.

So what good isbit if I cannot play online I cannot see what advantage you would get from just playing offline and still have to buy the gamete play online

You can play online, but there is always a risk. If you update your dash, if you flash you back to stock. No one will sit here and tell you will never get banned. Or you can buy games and be 100% safe.

Like I said I'm new to this so as long as I run abgx before I burn games and stay away from xbox dashboard updates I am pretty safe but not 100% but I thought the updates were mandatory ? Is there anything else I should do?

The updates are mandatory. The last flashed the drives back to stock and the modded drives had to be redone. And no, you are not pretty safe, there is a high chance you will get banned eventually, everything else is wishful thinking.
Also you should have checked which box you have in the first place, only the newer drives need a probe.
Xbox 360: Slim untouched with a faked 320 GB harddrive for XBL, phat with LT 3.0, played Halo early, so going on live would be an instand ban, also with a faked 320 GB harddrive
PS3: Untouched 160 GB Slim, 60 GB Fat with latest Rogero and 160 GB internal harddrive.
PSVita: hardly ever play it
GameCube: Black with a Viper chip installed. With gameboy player. Trying to get a Wavebird controller.

We all know the risks. If you are willing to understand them, then I would advise not to flash your drive. It will eventually get banned.

That's just the chance you take when flashing. If you don't wanna get banned, then don't flash.
If you do flash, then you are taking a chance, just like everyone else. Stay on top of the game, and hope for the best.
I flashed a 2 consoles almost 3 1/2 years ago. One was banned within about 4 months. Gave it away. The other one (located here) is still on Live practically every single day.
I flashed 2 others about 2 1/2 years ago (located here) and they are still going strong on Live.
It's a game of chance, but stay informed and all should be good.

If you flash your drive and play retail discs, you're not making yourself SAFE by any means. You need a separate console and separate profiles if you want to be 100% safe.

i have yet to here anyone getting banned as of yet,M$ is going a different route with updates just like sony with firmware updates

I agree. I think they had bad results with the banning. I think they really shot themselves in the foot. They still get a ton of money for Xbox Live, DLC, etc. Most of the users that mod won't buy a console unless it can be modded. (not sure if I know any of these people ;)

ok i have downloaded imgburn i went to download abgx but im not sure which one to get? there is two for wimdows one is an installer and one is a source codethen they have 13 wave files too so what do i need?

Get the installer.
As for the wave files, you need those if you want abgx360 to be able to auto-fix a 360 game ISO where the video partition is missing, corrupt, or incorrect. Once you have abgx360 installed, start it up, then press Control + F on your keyboard, choose "yes" and the local stealth files folder will open. That's where you need to unzip the wave files to. If you don't do that, then if you do come across an ISO where the video partition is missing/corrupt/wrong, abgx360 will tell you, but it won't be able to fix it.
