I have already done a xclamp fix on the console when i turn it on will load games and i will crash after about 5 minutes max. It has been about 3 months since the fix was done.
I have now redone the paste. The air seems to fairly hot coming out of the vents so i think it may be crashing due to the heat build up when drives in use. I have had it running on the dashboard for about 15 minutes with no problems.
You need to get a reflow and this will fix it. If you cant afford one (like me), you can always use the heat gun fix, which does reflow the solder just not as good as a proper BGA reflow

I disagree with this comment. There is no permanent fix yes, but if you can add a extra couple of years on to your xbox then why not
I thought a xbox only needs a reflow if its a major fault wont boot at all. Correct me if i am wrong i am newbie. Where can i buy a oven instead of using a heatgun?
The xbox will boot and work ok until the drive is in use and gets very hot and freezes. Does 3 lights 0102 error once cooled load up again. Would uprated internal fans do anything?
I have fixed intermittent RROD with this method before, so it does work! If it was overheating then you would get 2 red lights not 3
Also, where can you buy a oven? Not sure what you mean by this. If you are asking can you use a oven instead then I would say no, you need to direct the heat on certain areas of the xbox board (CPU, GPU & RAM)

if you going to use the oven you might as well wrap the mainboard in aluminum and throw it in the microwave for 2:30 seconds.
using the oven will cause the silicon parts to crack.
a cheap heat gun runs about $30.00 and you'll get about 100 re-flows from it. if you want a heat gun that will last a very long time you going to shell out sears prices
I would have prefered if it worked to heat it up in a oven but since not possible will give the heat gun a go. I already bought a heat gun just dont trust myself incase i fry the board. Is it better to cover the parts of the board that dont need heating?
The xbox works but gets a 0102 error and the air feels very hot coming out of the fans.
Reflows and heatgun fixes can last anywhere from 1 day to a year or 2 so fixing it or paying someone to fix it will run $30 to $50 you can get a complete arcade model Jasper on Ebay for $90 to $100 why even bother ? Just sell your broken one you'll get about $50 to $70 if you sell it broken with the controller and wires and save yourself some headaches down the line.
