I've been waiting a long time for Windows Mobile 7 (now Windows Phone 7) from a non-gaming perspective. I used an HTC 6700 for a long time, and I have a Tilt on hand, but I am currently only using a Blackberry Curve. The Blackberry has a better form factor, but the Tilt, and more recent WinMobile phones (which really aren't all that different since the OS is the same), have way more flexibility.
The main thing, though, is that I can tether these models to my laptop and have internet access anywhere I have cell phone access.
The biggest problem is that the operating system is so clunky that it isn't really even worth using.
I really hope that version 7 (which has been delayed several times now) is enough of a reboot to save the OS. In all honesty though, I'd rather just see Microsoft die in the mobile OS market and Android or another open source operating system really dominate. A world where an open source operating system with a fully unlocked phone had the application popularity of the iPhone would be a fun world to live in :)

I imagine the ultimate model for the gaming aspect of this is how Sony accomplishes it on the PS3-->PSP gaming. I've never tried it to know how good it is, though.

for the most part i don't think most xbl games are very resource intensive. not having buttons, d-pad and thumbsticks is my wonder on how its going to work.
i believe touchscreen games can be great if their designed for touchscreen devices. not sure how games will be when you have to map the controls for buttons and touchscreen.
either way... i'm getting one once sprint gets it which will be about 2 years after t-mobile and at&t.

Well, it isn't really a problem for now anyway since MS has said nothing about emulating the PS3-->PSP model. Doesn't sound to me like any feature anywhere approaching that is going to be one of the new features in Windows Mobile 7. The way they termed the 'turn based gaming' thing makes me think that the only offering in that regard will be mini-games, programmed specifically for the Windows Mobile platform, loosely based on the full version games.
