So i keep getting disconnected from live and need help if i can.
Network setup-
As of now my 360 is hooked up to laptop and using shared connection. Laptop wireless connection is great strength.
Issue-
I keep getting disconnected from live at random times. I have been playing UFC lately and this has happened on Madden and Call of Duty. just goes lag free for some time then i get dropped.
What i have tried-
so had this connected to the PC and laptop both using shared connection and both seem to have the problem. did a test on it someone mentioned here ping www.google.com -n 9999 after doing this test i notice im getting major lag spikes and seems ever few mins. never notice this before but now when playing i am watching the lag spikes on the laptop as im playing and each time i does spike it it freezes up. and then ever once it a while(maybe once per day since doing this test) packets will just time out but only seems to time out when im playing, when running test with out playing on the 360 it still gets lag spikes but never drops packets.
will set up port forwarding if it will help really hoping not the router because i just bought a new router few months ago because was having connection issues, just getting dropped then but when i got new router seemed to stop. as of now its not as bad not even close. seems to only kill matches on live. and even then just drops match i dont disconnect to internet, on all the computers you dont ever notice the lag spikes, but they are happening. lag spikes are only one second long never goes longer then that, and when i lose packets usually lose 3-5 consecutive ones.

I know you mentioned that it wouldn't be possible to run a cable to the 360 but what about moving the 360 near the router just to test out the connection with a cable? Then you could pin point whether it is your router or laptop causing the problem.
seem as people want hand holding, before he made a post with his problem he should have done his own trouble shooting as to eliminate his own problem.
like a old friend of mine once said "you cant teach common sense".
thought would create new post just to condense what had been done. that's all no other reason. And yes hand holding would be nice as i dont know whats wrong hence the post.
so not able to connect 360 to the close to the router as there isnt a tv anywhere near it(sorry for making this complicated) but i am leaning to it being my internet provider. Today have MAJOR connection issues. did that ping test and its loosing packets very often. keep loosing connection every few mins and also noticing that the cable connection for the tv is REALLY jacked up and loosing connection there too.

The fact that your laptop also is losing connection during that time period tells you that it's not your Xbox that's the problem. It is either your laptop (unlikely), router (maybe), or internet service (sounds likely).
We could make suggestions, but if you want hand holding, I suggest calling your ISP's tech support people. They will help you sort it out. Good luck.
ya just got off phone with them and they are coming out to look at it. you know the 100s of time that i have called ISP over the years the always fight tooth and nail that the problem is on your end. but lucky for me while i was on the phone he lost connection to the modem several times.
guess i should have called them in first place but really thought was router as it was really bad till i got a new router and that seemed to take care of it till i started playing on live. but looks like its the modem or connection to the modem.
