Ok, this has never happened. Looking for any feedback. Turned on xbox 360, screen said xbox live update. I say sure. Update downloads completely, then screen goes black and xbox is stuck. Just the green light. After 5 minutes, I turn off xbox, then turn it back on. Once again, xbox has green light, but the xbox OS doesn't initialize. It sits with he one center green light for about a minute (yes, 60 whole seconds), then I get 3 red lights. I turn off. Turn back on. Center green light, no xbox OS initialize, then 60 seconds later I get the 3 red lights. What the hell? No game in the system. I was about to watch Netflix.
Any suggestions. I tried searching keywords that might be similar, but to no avail. If anyone wants to tell me bad luck, then I can tell you about the crap going on in my real life to be proof to that statement.

Quote: On Tuesday, Microsoft has released an Xbox 360 software update that overwrites the first stage bootloader of the system. Although there have been numerous software updates for Microsoft's gaming console in the past, this is the first one to overwrite the vital boot block. Any failure while updating this will break the Xbox 360 beyond repair. Statistics from other systems have shown that about one in a thousand bootloader updates goes wrong, and unless Microsoft has a novel solution to this problem, this puts tens of thousands of Xboxes at risk.

I hope Microsoft will replace this for free since it is their fault. I guess it is giving 3 RRoD so they should fix it free anyways. Just sucks problems like this even happen.

The thing is, they knew that this was going to happen. They knew that they were going to fry many tens of thousands of people's property and made the decision to do it anyway. All in the interest of making sure they maintained complete control of the 360 rather than allow its potential to be harnessed by modders. I smell a class action lawsuit forming up if it is as common as the free60 guys say.

I originally bought this system used from someone 2 years ago. Unable to register it in my name. And they said if they see the sticker was removed, then they would deem it as being tampered with and send it back. Time to buy another one.

Well MS won't be able to (or doesn't want to) tell for sure if your Xbox is modded. Just just look for signs of modding. So if you leave no sign, then you can get your Xbox repaired.

Ok, I don´t understand anything about US legislation and contract but, I live in Brazil, there is no MS support here, when I got 3rl there were no way to sent it to the US. And even if it did, the feds would stop it in the way back and charge me 300% of the value/arrest me.
So I popped it open and did an X-clamp.
So what I did: I imported they´re product, paying exorbitant prices because they don´t care about third world countries. Than I fixed a problem that was they´re fault but they wouldn´t fix. Oh yeah, did I mentioned that I called microsoft here, and a guy with an accent from argentina told me they gave no xbox live support here so don´t use it? Than I had to set up Live as if I were in the US..
And now if this update fry my xbox, than it will turn it into the prettiest paperweight ever! And if by some miracle I´m able to sent it for repair, they won´t because it´s been opened...
I don´t know... it just doesn´t seem fair for me...
And I can´t even shoot the thing with a 12 gauge because I´m no allowed to have weapons. Ever. Hope no one finds out I play COD4... I guess that can get me into trouble... >:(

I have a refurb premium. I've been waiting a long time to flash it. In fact, I put the blaster360 on it a year ago. However the kids were all playing rockband/rb2, which we bought, so I never bothered.
I was finally going to flash it when I got the email about the update so I waited.
The question is, which may as well be addressed now since I expect forum posts about it;
Is there any cause for concern about flashing it now that it has received the update successfully?
I am long-winded

You could have five kids with autism before your 360 fries due to this update. Those are literally the odds.
Just update it.

I applied mine via xbox live as i'm not modded (hence i wasn't bothered with MS closing the alleged homebrew loophole i mean), it didn't take long on mine to download, and that was with torrents maxxing out my connection.
