xbox not playing dvd's

so it is flashed with 1.6 and has been for almost a year and never had a problem. i get back from college and everything is fine but it will not play dvd's and it doesnt matter if they are burned or not, it just goes to a black screen any help.

Also i asked this earlier but on another xbox when i hit open tray my xbox goes to a black screen and the middle ring of life continuously flashes green, what is going on with that?

yes it plays everything fine,just not dvd, burned or real
