That's because it's a newer TU. This doesn't work for all games.

Hi guy's, ok after digging around, i've found a solution and will compile a step-by-step for people who may be in the same situation as me (newbie to usb and xbox360)!

(Taken from afterdawn website via this thread, xbuc and pothsprojects)

How do I get those updates on my XBOX 360 console?

Update your XBOX 360 console to the latest dashboard version
Get yourself an usb stick with at least 1GB capacity
Format it as a XBOX 360 Memory Unit on your XBOX 360 console via 'Dashboard/System/Storage'
Connect your usb stick to your PC

Download the TU file for MW3 HERE
Download HORIZON HERE
Unzip both files and add to desktop (or somewhere of your choice for now)

Run HORIZON
Drag and Drop TU file onto HORIZON window
On the MW3 dialog that appears, click Save To Device and then select device (which is your USB)

Insert USB into xbox360 and play MW3!

Side note:
On the xbuc website there is plenty of information if you check the FAQs
ok, maybe it's just me... but for the life of me I can't get this to work... I have tried moving the file to the HDD, leaving it on the USB, each time I get the same thing.. disc not auth.. or disc unreadable.. i have cleared the cache on each memory unit... i feel like i'm dead in the water here.. is there a step i'm missing???

When trying to actually play campaign or MP, the disc is not supported message pops up again.
check http://www.xbuc.net/

you cannot download the TU file located on this thread for Halo, you need to download the right one for that game, if you goto http://www.xbuc.net/ there is more information on that.

however in the mean time if you need any help actually doing the TU file onto the system this thread is the one for you!

what i did:

got my spare usb stick
put into laptop and format
put into xbox 360 in the front slot and format it via the system > memory option
once formatted put into laptop again
run horizon
drag and drop tu file onto horizon program window
on the dialog that appears named MW3, click save to device then select Device (your usb)
put back into xbox front port
run mw3

thats what i did and it worked first time?

I know the TU in this thread was for MW3. I used xbuc and downloaded the Anniversary TU, didn't work.

well according to TeamX c4 has already came up with a real solution, as far as getting banned, with so many retail games causing flags as well, not sure they will risk a single flag, if you had multiple flags for multiple games then you will most likely get banned.

so glad there is now lt 3.0!
cannot wait for release..

i will confirm, i was playing MW3 last night and now it saying disk unreadable again, therfore the TU file has been updated again, think ill hold out now for lt 3.0 and hope theres a rollback (no ban for the game not working) and then ill get a good few more months (atleast til after xmas) out of mw3!

So to confirm the only way horizon will pick up the flash device is if your format the usb flash drive through your xbox 360 first?

i have a 8gb Sandisj in a USB converter. Will this be ok?

Also when you look at the list of TU;s when i download my system does not recognise the software, is this a very simple error to fix? the MW3 one is the only one that works for me

cheers

Are backups still working online by using this Title Update method or has MS blocked it?

Such a lot of trouble to play a game online. If people really want to use "Backup" copies when they play their games, fine. But, if multi-player is the heavy focus on a certain game, suck it up and use the original disc. A lot of work here just to play your "legally backed up copy" when you have the original disc sitting on your shelf. Or so people claim. LOL!

you know funny thing is, a good friend of mine had his copy of mw3 for about two hours and the drive scratched a groove in the disc so deep it wouldn't play...now if he would have had his b/u copy in... no harm.. no foul.. but instead he had to go buy another copy at 60.00(that's good enough reason right there)

I just don't understand this. I've been gaming since the NES era, I've had hundreds of games, Sega CD, Saturn, Dreamcast, PSX, PS2, PS3, XBox, XBox360 and PC. I've never scratched any of my discs more than a hairline scratch here or there, certainly never to the point where a game wouldn't play. If you're over the age of 10, you should be able to use game discs and never see a scratch. I'm sure there may be those freak occurrences such as you mentioned, but I just find even that scenario hard to believe. I don't see how an XBox scratches a disc, unless you bump or move the console while the game is playing. How did just is MW3 game get scratched? All his other games work fine and have never been scratched? How did the XBox just manage to scratch just that one game, all of a sudden?
