I want to replace the 40gb hd in my ps3 w/ a 500 gb one. Is there a big differance in speed between the two?

what speed does it come with?

Version 1 PS2
Fliptop lid
Swap Magic 3.6
NEC 3250A 16x DL burner
Tayio Yuden 8x Media

Eat one live toad first thing in the morning and nothing worse will happen to you for the rest of the day!

Have a look here.
http://www.gamepro.com/article/features/...e-speed-matter/

http://talkplaystation.com/7200rpm-vs-5400rpm-hard-drive/

But i think that the latest Seagate Momentus 500gb 7200rpm and 16mb may have some noticeable reduced load times.

In my case that i changed back in 2007 the shipped 5400rpm 60gb with a 7200rpm 160gb......naaahhh wasnt worth it.

SDF-GR, I assume that the sites that you provided have the same info that I had read. 7200 provided little to no improvement and does not justify the price increase over 5400 rpm. I just upgraded to the Western Digital Scorpio Blue 320gig. It was so easy. Wish I had done it years ago.

I'm not downing you links in any way. I cant look at them from work as gamming sites are blocked. I "assumed" that they had @ the same info as the reports that I had read on 5400 vs 7200 on the PS3.

Get the cheapest (best rated) HDD you can find. Everything I've read has pointed to there being a negligible difference. Just my 2 cents.
