Another dead Blu-Ray drive!

Hi everyone, ive searched high and low and before i order a new blu ray laser im wondering if anyone can help me out first.

I updated my PS3 40GB to 3.15 and a few hours later after a few game crashes it now wont read any disks. I just get the disk read icon then nothing.

Ive done some investigating and stipped down the PS3 to clean the lens which made no difference.

Switching the PS3 on though with the cover off i can see the lens move back and thats it. The disk doesnt spin, the lens doesnt light up. Also if i hold done the eject button it spins the release disk part but not the disk itself, should this spin also?

Basically i'm after finding out if the problem is the laser or the whole drive?
