i was wondering how exactly you hook a ps3 to an atx power supply, i found a video on youtube but it was a 5 pin connector. i know you have your two prongs sticking off the board that are (12v)+ and -, but i have 4 pins for my psu connection and i dont know how to find out what volt each pin is or which ones are grounds, so does anyone know how you figure that out so that you can hook up the atx power supply. the old power supply was pushing 120v(ac) straight to the motherboard, it wasnt converting it to the 12v(dc) and i was wanting to make sure it didnt fry the board before i bother fixing it. so any help would be appreciated.

You want to hook up a atx power supply to your ps3. I would have to advise against that. If you get a power supply that pushes heavy wattage your system will fry. If you get one with not enough wattage then you will get the YLoD because the system thinks the power supply is bad.

ooZEROoo - It seems that you have forgotten your basic electical theory...wattage is not "pushed", but "drawn"...no harm will come from using a 2000W power supply with a 1W load.

Voltage is the "push" and ATX has the same power outputs at the PS3 power supply.

I can't remember off hand what specific wires provide what voltages, but I am sure you can find it online, or by using a digital multimeter with a working power supply.

I am not sure if you can set it up to turn on with the power button; you might need to set it up with a switch...so you would switch the power on, then turn the system on as normal.
