so last week i finally decided to update to 3.3, and download went fine, but when it was installing, it stopped at 64% and gave me error:8002F1F9, so i restarted the system and it went straight to update again and its like in a loop and keeps failing at 64.

Please help...

ah, welcome to my world, i have 2 PS3s with the same problem, dependng on which system you have, some people have had success in disconnecting the CMOS battery for a good few hours, then refitting the battery and redoing the update, didn't work for me though

if you have a spare HDD, you coud try putting that in, the PS3 will then format that HDD, then ask for the update again on a USB device

you cold try and see if you can get the PS3 into safe mode to see what happens

the 2 i have stuck in the loop were faulty anyway, so not too bothered

You can also use a PC to format the harddrive if you do not have a spare one.
