Jailbreaking, hacking, homebrew.....I don't even know if these are all the same thing. Is there some sort of tutorial out there for people that need to really start at step 1?
I still have an older firmware version, because I have been trying to get Linux on my PS3. I tried a few different versions, and have always run into some sort of snag. That is really the only reason I was keeping the older firmware on there, so I could use Linux for retro gaming. Since that looks like it's not happening, I want to get the latest firmware so I can start using Netflix again. What should I do?
Should I upgrade firmware, then jailbreak? Will that allow me to use the new Netlfix-no-disk feature? Will it let me be able to install emulators?
Can emulators only be used if you have Linux?
I really have no idea where to even start with the jailbreak. I tried reading the recent thread about the new jailbreak, and most of it is on a higher level than what I know. If I just had some basic foundational info, I could figure it all out.
