My first question is, how come there is no category in this forum for Playstation 3? I don't see one.
Okay. Here's what I want to do. I do not have a TV but I do have a 20 inch HP Pavilion 2009m LCD wide-screen monitor. I want to connect a PS3 to this monitor to have the games show on it. I also want to connect headphones to hear the game sounds through them. In the searching that I've been doing, I pretty much have the idea of how to do this but there are still a few loose ends. I hope that I could get some help with this.
Furthermore, I've been thinking of getting a KVM switch so I could switch back and forth between the game and my actual PC.
As far as sound goes, I have just your standard headset with mic. No speakers. So I need to be able to connect my headphones to the PS3 somehow.
I have not bought the PS3 yet. That is pending having a workable solution to this as I'm not about to spend even more money buying a TV. If I can achieve this I would be very happy.
This allows you to have RCA as input . So you connect red & white from the ps3 AV cable to the one side and your PC speakers to the other (or headphones or whatever) . As u can see it has 3 exits so it can support up to 5.1 sound.
If there is only a DVI input, they make HDMI to DVI converters and converter cables. Amazingly, the audio is the hard part...you need to get a twin RAC Female to 3.5mm mini female adapter to adapt the analog audio output to headphones. If you can buy a set of headphones, there are plenty of bluetooth and USB sets that work without adapters.
My monitor supports DVI-D and VGA video input connectors. So then, I would need a HDMI to DVI converter then. Correct? What is DVI-D as opposed to simply DVI? I should be able to get everything I need for both the video and audio ends at Radioshack right?
So now, correct me if I'm wrong. I plug the HDMI to DVI converter into the PS3. Then my monitor into that? Sounds easy. But how can I integrate a KVM switch into this so I can switch back and forth between the PS3 and my PC? I would of course need a KVM switch that supports DVI then. I don't know much about this.

If your PC is using VGA, you don't need a kvm...you can switch using the onscreen menu...and it would be a lot cheaper than buying a HDMI or DVI KVM.
RadioShack only sells cell phones last time I checked; I wouldn't count on them to have anything...even something as basic as this. You might try bestbuy...even walmart will have a better selection than RadioShed.
