Drive not spinning disks

We have a PS3 80GB console that we purchased in January 2008. This past February, we got the dreaded YLOD. I refused to pay what Sony wanted for out of warranty repair ($150 + $30 shipping) so I luckily found someone local to fix it for $75. It's been working like a charm, HOWEVER, two days after we got the unit repaired we had to run a system update which we did and our drive died that same day. I did a lot of research and determined that it's not spinning at all. When we put in a game or blu-ray movie the little clock icon just spins continuously on the screen. I noticed that when I put the disk in a certain direction it comes out the same way so that tells me the drive is not spinning.

Any thoughts what could be wrong and how much this may cost to fix? I just came across my receipt from our original purchase and it was around $935 with accessories, etc. I just hate the thought of sinking in more money into this, yet, I also hate the thought of seeing these games and movies just sitting here collecting dust. My kids still use the machine daily but they just play demos downloaded from the PS store.

I read over some forums that mentioned it may not be the drive motor but in fact the lens. Is that right? How would I determine that? How would I know whether to buy a drive or just the lens? Also, how do I know which kind I need? I see people referring to KEM-410 and other numbers and just wonder where they found that information?
