I have a 40GB cechg01. Immediatly after firmware 3.15 i can't read BD but I can read regulare DVD.

I took it apart and found a kes-400a. It looks like it only has one laser. So that would mean I don't have a bad laser?

Can someone help me fix this?

It could still be a bad laser; one common type of laser failure will cause it to stop reading BD first, DVD second, and then finaly CD. Then again, it is still possible that something wierd happened with the firmware update...as this has been known to happen too.

Does the system read BD at all? Have you tried both games and movies? Will it read (even a little) right after being turned on from cold?
