You go to a store, buy the games you want and use the homebrew apps to backup and play them.
Whatever you do, make sure to buy the games and not rent them! Only backup the games you own because that way, you are not stealing. It is important to backup your games. They might accidentally fall on the ground and get scratched or you might scratch them yourself by accident when trying to scratch yourself. It is VERY difficult not to scratch your games. So difficult in fact that hackers go to the trouble of creating homebrew software so we don't have to repurchase the many games we destroy. It is for this reason and this reason ONLY that backup managers exist.

They also exist for convenience...I really don't like having to get up, go over to my wall of games, try to find the title, hope it is in alphabetical order (never is), hope the disk is actually in the case (rarely is), and then go over to the PS3 and put the game in. I much prefer to press a few buttons, get to an auto-sorted list of games, and start my game without even getting up.
...and they exist because Sony optical drives are not very reliable.

That is true. I remember once I put my Assassin's Creed game in the Assassin's Creed case. When I went to look for it, I didn't think to check the case that corresponded to the name of the game. So I said "To hell with this complexity, I'm going to jtag my xbox 360!". And so I did and never looked back.
