can i put an external hardrive on my ps3????

You can definitely use an external hard drive with your PS3, but you won't be able to save game data to it. (You can copy game data to it, but not directly save gamesaves to it.)

I use one for all my media - music, pictures, movies, that stuff. You can also use it to back up your system in case anything should happen.
