So I have a bunch of movies stored on my PC. They come in all different formats - avi/mkv/mp4/etc... I'm streaming directly from PC to PS3. All video plays perfectly except for the mp4 formatted videos. The mp4s plays with alot of lag. Just wondering if I'm the only one experiencing this or is anyone else experiencing the same problem. My PC is quad core so it should be able to process HD movies no problem. Has anyone encounter this and found a solution to work around it? My first option was to transfer the mp4 movie onto the PS3 and watch it from there but then again, majority of them are foreign, which means the subs will not be displayed. The second option was to embed the subs onto the movie and then transfer it to the PS3. However, I can't find and progs that will hard sub mp4 files. And when I did find some, it required video conversion, which will result in lost of quality and hour upon hours of waiting. WMP11 media sharing was not able to display subs so I'm currently using PS3 media server. Both gave me laggy mp4 playback. Also, the PS3 is just 4 feet away from the router and signals are stable at 54MB.
