Ive tryed to dig for this answer. I have my ps3 hooked too my TV with Hdmi ( my reciever dont have a HDMI port ) i get sound and video threw the TV and not my reciever. I ran the componet (red and white) to my reciver. I cannot get sound to play threw my reciever. When i start the ps3 for the first time ( after defaulting ) (while having hdmi in tv and componets in reciever from the ps3) i get Video on the TV and sound threw the Ps3. Then the ps3 asks if i wanna run Hdmi video and sound threw the HDMI, if i click NO the screen goes back and it comes back to asking me the same Prompt question. if i click yes then i get sound and video threw the Tv only. Is there somthing im missing here? I dont see why i dont get any sound threw my reciver. Any help will be greatful, Thanks in advance.
If your receiver has an available optical input, use it. Buy an optical cable, connect the PS3 to the receiver via this cable, and set the receiver to the proper input. On the PS3, change your audio settings from HDMI to Optical. That should do it.
