I am in a predicament with my ps3's..... I would like to install linux to a 40 gb ps3. My only problem is that my blu-ray drive is messed up of course. I really have no reason to repair this machine as that I have a 120 gig slim. Unfortunatly I can't install linux to that one because of sony's fear of pirated games... makes me wonder why in the world they evel allowed it to begin with... anyway, if anyone knows how to install from a usb drive thus bypassing the iso burning step, It would be greatly appreciated if anyone knows where I could atleast get a little more info, point me in the right direction. Hopefully thanks in advance.

1, sony did not take out linux otion bc they are afraid of pirating, linux in now way can help pirate games. sony know ps3 cant be hacked/ or play pirated games, and they took it out bc they wanted the ps3 to be a 1 os system. ok, now on to your answer... https://help.ubuntu.com/community/PlayStation_3 here u should be able to take the alternate links and not desktop, put them on a drive, and it should work, i cant say 100% bc i used a disc when i installed mine.
