So my goal is to copy a dvd to my ps3. I started by using DVDFab decrypter to rip dvd to my hard drive. I ended up with 1 file VTS_01_0.IFO and 6 files VTS_01_1 to VTS_01_6 get it? so i guess my question is how (if i can?) put theses files together so that i can encode them then transfer to ps3. I have tried some methods on this fourm but no luck. Any help would be apprecated. Thanks in advance

There are problems with just about every method of doing this, at least for movies that are over 4GB (most DVDs are).

My method (a method that DOES NOT work with any USB devices, and requires payware) is this:
1.) Insert DVD, start DVD decrypter.
2.) Click Tools>settings>ifo mode, and set file splitting to "None"
3.) Close settings, and rip the longest title on the disk.
4.) Use videoredoplus to do a "Quick Stream Fix" on the file, with the output type set as MPG.
5.) Use Apache web server to setup a webpage with a link to the file
6.) Navigate to the webpage from step 5 using the ps3...if you just click it, it will play just like a movie on the drive, or you can download it by using triangle on the controller. Note that you can use this method to setup a "website" with links to thousands of movies, and they will all play like they are right on the PS3. This can be handy if you want full-quality, 100% lossless DVD rips on the PS3, as PCs have a LOT more room for hard drives...and this has none of the potential quality drops associated with media server apps.

Alternatively, you can use DVD Shrink to output the DVD folder without any file breaks. (You have to select this in the Settings, as well.) I'm pretty sure DVDFab has this option, too.

Take the biggest file, run whatever encoding you want to make it smaller (or use DVD Shrink to select the specific video/audio you want to rip and have it automatically downsize it, which makes it easier in my opinion), and then put it on a flash drive to play on your PS3.

Alternatively alternatively, don't even bother with the re-encoding. If you're able to stream it to the PS3 via media server, you won't be limited by the 4GB filesize limitation on FAT32 drives.

Another way is use dvdshrink to rip the movie compressed up to 4gb and use tsmuxer to change container from vob to ts or m2ts.

Good thing about tsmuxer is that it does the work in a flash and you dont need to rip the movie as a single file.
If you add e.x. VTS_01_1.vob to tsmuxer it will automatically join it with VTS_01_2.vob VTS_01_3.vob and so on.

I don't see any reason to ever use DVD Shrink's "Shrink" feature unless you are going to burn it to a DVD (or if you are just incredibly lazy). MPEG2 isn't a great format...if you have to re-encode for a smaller size, then you should do it with a better format...that way you can get an even smaller size at the same quality, or more quality at the given size. The only problem is that any time you reencode, you will loose quality, even if the file you reencode to is larger than the original source...and DVD does not have enough quality to start with.

OH, btw...there are lots of apps that can convert a vob to a proper MPG/TS/etc, but I use videoredoplus because DVD video is usually full of errors, and this removes them.
