To be fair to Kaj, there is a mod chip, and the PS3 can be "modded".
however, I doubt either are what the OP are looking for (as I guess they are mainly wanting to pirate PS3 games)...a simple search would have shown that.

Sure, it can be modded. People do it all the time. As a matter of fact, there's a company out there that does a pretty good custom paint job.
Then again, if you'd bothered to read the stickies or glance at any of the numerous other threads asking the exact same question, you'd have your answer.

I think he is just annoyed at the fact you couldn't be bothered using the search button.
As ibizagti says there is a "mod chip", but it only allows for the back up of the firmware, you cant play back ups or homebrew, so that is irrelevant to what you want.
If you want backups, buy a dev console.

yes obla u could have done a searce and found the answer and yes there are a lot of childish people here. you should have gotten a simple answer and then the tread closed but afterdawn is not what it use to be it very sad

What's sad is actually the repeated laziness and ineptitude of folks that ask the same idiotic questions despite the topic having been covered ad nauseum. As for childishness, I would tend to apply that label to the aforementioned lazy and ignorant who can't seem to perform basic functions themselves and demand to be spoon fed information that is otherwise very readily available with a minimum amount of effort.

And I asked it cuz I read somewhere that there was a modchip in da works but I lost that news article so I wasntz sure about the name of it. Anyway, good lookin out, brova.

You know whats actually sad? The fact that you favor minimum effort in deriving info. And that's a funny thing, cuz that's exactly what I exercised. So, your whole analysis of the situation has been wasted. So, keep all your dictionary words until you really need it, so you can TRY to show off to INTELLIGENT people you're scared of confronting in a real argument. You know what I found cazer? It's not the question that these folks are concerned about. It's their low esteem that propels them to nitpick at others to give them a sense of superiority. It's called frustration... whether it's the recession, sexual, or they can't get along with others.

This whole thread wreaks of facepalm. TBH you cannot blame the forums for their response to your thread. And afterdawn "isnt like it use to be" specifically because people can't be damned to put minimal effort in themselves before they come on here and ask a question that has been answered umpteenth times before; and the community as a whole is tired of it. Don't try and change the argument to cover up your own laziness.
On another note this thread really need to be closed; I'm surprised it went on for this long.

You know, if you find my question so offensive, why do you even bother to comment on it? No one is forcing you to answer my question. I'm sure this question isn't making your life worse than it already is. And, by the way you took your time and energy to answer it, this tells that you really don't have anything else better to do with your life. I'm sure that if you had a life or a girl, that you wouldn't be making a mountain out of a mole hill.
