Hello, and thanks for taking the time to look at this posting.

Sorry I could not find any other thread which covered quite this question...

Background
I am comfortable ripping my dvds and either merging them into one or two large VOB files and playing them on my PS3 from a thumb drive or copying them to the PS3 hard drive, or streaming them from my TVersity server. I only have a couple BD disks and haven't tried that yet, but will eventually get around to it.

Problem
The one thing I particularly miss without a full DVD inserted in the PS3 drive is the ability to navigate by chapters. Skipping backwards in a stream from the TVersity server or USB-drive is also less smooth and consistent than when I am playing an actual DVD.

Questions
Is there a format which allows me to retain any of the navigation (or subtitles?) of a DVD, but still allows easy movement from media to media? Is there some other thread I should be looking for this discussion in? Last question... is there any way to "trick" the PS3 into playing the structure typically found on a DVD from any other source than the DVD itself (like a USB hard drive or network drive)?
